The Area Lakes

Kentucky Lake and it's sister lake, Lake Barkley, are widely known for their excellent fishing and boating. With over 160,000 acres of water and over 2,300 miles of shoreline on Kentucky Lake alone, there are plenty of opportunities for boaters and fisherman alike to enjoy these beautiful lakes. A convenient canal is located at the north end of the lakes so that you may easily go from one lake to the other.

There are several species of fish to cast for throughout the year.  Crappie, large and smallmouth bass, catfish, bluegill, white bass (striper), sauger, sunfish and spoonbill are all abundant.

4th of July brings a large fireworks show to Kentucky Dam which is enjoyed by all ages.  Boat races are also run on Kentucky Lake throughout the summer months.

Gingerwood Lodges is conveniently located 1.7 miles south of Kentucky Dam Marina which is a full-service marina with a public boat launch and boat rentals. Fishing tournaments launch from the Kentucky Dam Marina throughout the year.
